AAM President Scott Paul will join other experts for an in-depth discussion on Thursday.
We've written extensively over the past several weeks about how the coronavirus crisis has shown just how important it is to reshore the manufacturing of things like medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and critical supply chains. We even made a whole video about it!
Of course, we aren't alone. There is increasing consensus, both among policymakers and the general public, about the need to ramp up the production of these products so we aren't so reliant on imports from adversaries like China.
On Thursday, AAM President Scott Paul will join other experts for an panel discussion about how policies like Buy America and the Defense Production Act can help the United States begin to shift its manufacturing back home. You might remember that Scott Paul wrote about this very thing in The New York Times a few weeks back, outlining why it's been such a challenge for the U.S. to ramp up production during the crisis and what Washington needs to do now to better prepare for the next one.
Sponsored by the Washington International Trade Association, the digital event is also set to feature Jeff Bozman, special counsel at Covington & Burling LLP; Jean Heilman Grier, a principal trade consultant at Djaghe LLC; Clete R.
