Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure unveiled the Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation in America (INVEST in America) Act.
The bill seeks to authorizes nearly $500 billion over five years to address some of the country’s most urgent infrastructure needs such as fixing roads, bridges and transit systems, building resilient infrastructure and more.
Alliance for American Manufacturing President Scott Paul said:
“Rebuilding America is a long journey, and the introduction of this legislation is an important step forward on the road to that destination. We commend the leadership of Chairman Peter DeFazio and the members of the committee for their work, as a robust new investment and vision for rebuilding our nation’s roads, bridges and transit systems is desperately needed.
We also applaud the committee leadership for including strengthened Buy America requirements in the bill, which will maximize the job impacts of new infrastructure investments.
Our nation had massive infrastructure needs prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has only added to the urgency. We look forward to working with Mr. DeFazio and policymakers to make this change happen soon.”
