Washington, D.C. — U.S. factories gained 10,000 jobs in February, according to data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday.
“Ten thousand new factory jobs are certainly worth cheering after a few months of decline. But manufacturing faces a very uncertain future, and job growth in the sector has been stalled for the past 30 months,” Alliance for American Manufacturing President Scott Paul said. “We believe that a responsible and orderly application of new tariffs, particularly on China and other countries with persistent unfair trade practices, will ultimately grow job opportunities in the United States.
“We look forward to continue engaging with the administration as its trade agenda moves forward. We also believe that more attention should be focused on the overvalued U.S. dollar and public investments in critical industries,” Paul said.
