The manufacturing sector grew by 22,000 jobs in March, according to the latest employment data from the Labor Department. The overall economy gained 103,000 new jobs.
Said Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) President Scott Paul:
"Factory jobs contributed outsized jobs gains to the U.S. economy in March.
"Fears of robots and trade wars costing us jobs have so far been wildly overblown. We believe that trade enforcement actions will benefit American businesses and workers.
"As a recent study has shown, manufacturing jobs still offer a sizable wage premium, which is why it's important to put this sector front and center in our trade and economic policies."
