Said Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) President Scott Paul:
"We're fully four months into the steel and aluminum tariffs, and manufacturing jobs continue to surge. Factories — including many in metal-consuming industries — added 37,000 jobs in July. While some firms faced adjustment issues with the tariffs, most factories are thriving.
"'Help Wanted' is still the most prevalent signage you'll see in an industrial park.
"We should use the leverage we've gained to get a better deal for American workers. That means a permanent fix to global steel overcapacity, additional pressure on China to stop its anti-competitive practices, and a modernized NAFTA that is better for the working class in all three nations."
