Our Energy Future Must Be Made in USA
It took decades for the United States to achieve energy independence. We cannot cede this advantage.
The United States cannot trade foreign oil for Made in China solar panels. Maintaining hard-fought American energy independence is critical to our economic and national security, and it’s vital that the United States take steps to ensure our clean energy future is also Made in America.
As the U.S. begins to transition to a clean economy, it must continue to maintain domestic production of the traditional energy sources needed to keep the power on. Meanwhile, the United States must take steps to strengthen and grow a robust domestic production capacity for new energy industries, from solar panels and wind turbines to electric vehicles and batteries.
The United States can and should lead the world in reducing carbon emissions. But if the U.S. relies on imports to meet its climate goals, it will fail. Instead, the United States must build the homegrown manufacturing base and supply chains needed to power the future.
