WATCH: Workers Tell Trump to Keep His Promise to Safeguard American-Made Steel

Nov 08 2017 |

Jobs are at stake — and so is our national security.

President Trump is wrapping up his big diplomatic trip to China, where he was treated to a "state visit plus" courtesy of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

But while Trump was given the "imperial treatment" by China, American steelworkers back at home are still waiting on him to keep his promise to do something about surging steel imports from places like China — a key promise he made both on the campaign trail and after he took office. You can watch the video below to get the entire scoop:

We've written ad nauseam about the need for Trump to finally unveil the findings of his national security investigations into steel and aluminum imports. AAM's President Scott Paul pressed the issue when he testified before Congress last month; Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle continue to ask Trump to make good on his word. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is even holding up two of Trump's trade nominees in an attempt to get Trump to act.

It all falls on Trump. He started the two investigations into steel and aluminum imports, and it is entirely up to his adminstration to release these reports and take action.

Tens of thousands of good-paying jobs are at stake — and so is our national security. It's past time for him to do the right thing.
