Experts from Securing America’s Future Energy (SAFE) offer some insight.

Did you know that it is International Podcast Day? It really is — a special holiday to celebrate the special podcasters in your life.

And while we totally didn't plan on the timing, The Manufacturing Report — AAM's very own podcast — is out with a special episode today taking a deep dive into one of the big issues we've been closely monitoring over the past several months.

I chatted with Greg Rogers and Alex Hutkin of Securing America's Future Energy (SAFE) about the legislative effort on Capitol Hill to ban Chinese state-owned, controlled, or subsidized companies from receiving U.S. taxpayer dollars to build U.S. rail cars or buses.

As we discuss in the podcast, more local jurisdictions are looking to buy electric vehicles (EVs) like buses, replace aging rail cars, and grow their public transit. But there a major economic and national security concerns about allowing companies with ties to China's government to use tax dollars manufacture these rail cars and buses. Greg and Alex not only provide a great overview of the issue, they also outline what the U.S. needs to do to strengthen and grow its own EV manufacturing capacity.

Once you are done listening to the episode, be sure to share it on your social networks AND tell your Members of Congress to support legislation to prohibit taxpayer money from going to China's government-owned, controlled and subsidized companies to build U.S. rail cars and buses.
