The retailer is closing up shop, but you can still score a few key pieces.
American Apparel is nearing its end.
The famed (and famously controversial) retailer set itself apart by manufacturing its apparel in the United States at a time when it seemed every garment maker was offshoring production. But American Apparel's many controversies eventually proved to be too much, and the company declared bankruptcy multiple times.
Canadian retailer Gildan bought the brand, and recently announced it will close all U.S. retail locations and shut down most of the non-wholesale side of the business. American Apparel will live on, but much of the production will be offshored. American Apparel stores are expected to be completely liquidated within the next month.
