The economy added 32,000 factory jobs last month!
Just before the midterm elections, we’ve got a new set of jobs numbers to consider. And consider this: The economy is currently doing very well, the manufacturing sector included! Maybe President Trump – this guy – should stop making up stuff about immigrants and instead talk about factory job creation, which is an actual good thing. The sector has added nearly 300,000 jobs since October 2017, after all. That’s a great clip.
It’s worth mentioning, too, that this factory job growth has come despite the worries of an economic downturn caused solely by the tariffs the Trump administration has erected against imports of goods from China. So far, it hasn’t! How interesting!
Said Alliance for American Manufacturing President Scott Paul:
"It’s good news that factories hired 32,000 new workers in October. If there is any employment impact from tariffs or retaliation, it’s being more than washed away by the overall strength of the manufacturing economy. That said, tariffs alone aren’t going to keep manufacturing strong.
"We need to see structural economic reforms in China, a better deal for workers through fairer trade agreements with Mexico, Canada, Japan and the European Union, as well as a renewed effort to crack down on exchange rate misalignment and manipulation."
