New video contest aims to shine the spotlight on workers and their achievements.

American manufacturing begins with innovation.

There are more than 12.5 million manufacturing workers in the United States that utilize these innovations every day, whether it be the operation of cutting-edge machinery or something as simple as the use of an improved tool or methodology.

Now Acuity Insurance Company is aiming to shine a spotlight on these workers and their achievements.

The Wisconsin company is sponsoring its first annual Manufacturing Pride Video Contest, inviting manufacturing workers to create and submit a a one-minute video that explains why they are proud to be a part of the industry.

The top five videos will be recognized by Acuity, with the first-place winner receiving a $1,500 VISA gift card and an honorary plaque.

“Manufacturing is more than a job – it’s a life full of ever-changing technologies, challenges, rewards and great people,” said Acuity Manufacturing Specialist Mike Schlagenhaufer. “That is why I fell in love with manufacturing almost four decades ago and continue to love it today.

“Acuity recognizes the significant contributions of the over 12.5 million professionals in the manufacturing industry that keep out country moving forward.”

The contest is being held ahead of Manufacturing Day, which is set for Oct. 5. In fact, manufacturers will be showcasing their work throughout the month, and the video contest is designed to help spread the word.

Acuity knows manufacturing well — it provides insurance protection for more than 5,000 manufacturers across 26 states. With its video contest, it wants to hear from all ages of manufacturing workers and learn why they are proud of being part of the American manufacturing industry.

Video entries should be a maximum of one minute long, and include the product workers help manufacturing and how that work impacts other people’s lives.

Contest entries are being accepted now through Aug. 15, 2018.
