All profits from the limited-edition hoodies will help the nonprofit Rescue 22 match service dogs with veterans with disabilities. As of Monday evening, the hoodies were nearly sold out.
Made in America mainstay American Giant is doing its part to help our nation’s veterans.
Ahead of Veterans Day on Saturday, the apparel maker is selling a limited edition version of its legendary hoodie to benefit the Rescue 22 Foundation, a nonprofit organization that matches veterans with service-related disabilities with service dogs.
Rescue 22 custom trains every service dog to match the personal needs of each individual veteran. Some dogs are trained to help veterans diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, while others assist with mobility issues or other medical concerns. The nonprofit also provides refresher training or additional follow-up when needed.
While service dogs have been shown to benefit veterans, the Veterans Administration (VA) currently does not cover the cost of a service dog, and Rescue 22 has pledged to never “take funds or ask a veteran to fundraise to cover the costs associated with receiving a service dog.”
So, Rescue 22 relies on donations to train every dog it places with a veteran. Enter American Giant and its special version of its Classic Full Zip Hoodie.
“We created this limited-edition version of our signature hoodie to help their cause – all profits from this hoodie will go to fund a dog for a veteran in need,” American Giant noted on its website. “We’re proud to support Rescue 22 in their pursuit to spread good to their community and our country.”
American Giant pledged that 100% of the profits from the limited-edition hoodie will go to support Rescue 22.
The American Giant x Rescue 22 hoodie is available in both men’s and women’s sizes, with a limited-edition color of Vintage Indigo and featuring the Rescue 22 logo. But the hoodies were selling fast — as of Monday night, the women’s version had already sold out and the men’s only had size medium remaining for sale. It’s unclear if the company will offer additional supplies of the special edition hoodie — but you can donate directly to Rescue 22 here.
