On Manufacturing Day, BLS Announces 18,000 New Factory Jobs in September

Washington, D.C. – The manufacturing sector grew by 18,000 jobs in September, according to the latest employment data from the U.S. Department of Labor.

Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) President Scott Paul said:

"Manufacturing recorded a respectable gain in jobs in September. Any job losses—and there have been very few actually documented—as a result of tariffs are being more than offset by the strength of the factory economy. Virtually all metals-consuming sectors continue to add jobs.

"It's Manufacturing Day, and a good time to reflect that while the Trump administration needs to move forward much more strategically to achieve real changes with our trading partners, the tariffs it has put in place still provide leverage rather than any real risk to factory jobs and the overall economy."
