Brief AAM Statement on Annual Manufacturing Jobs Figures for 2010
The final employment numbers for 2010 were issued this morning, with the U.S. manufacturing sector showing a net annual gain of 136,000 jobs.
Said Scott Paul, Executive Director of the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM):
"Viewed against the millions of productive manufacturing jobs lost in the past few years, this small gain reveals that our manufacturing sector is treading water. Overall, the relatively stagnant job market in manufacturing shows exactly why we need a national manufacturing strategy.
"The new Congress has their work cut out for them and we expect them to follow through on their strong campaign rhetoric, including aggressive steps on taxes, currency manipulation, workforce investment, infrastructure, and strict adherence to Buy America laws."
