The Early Shift

early-shift_thumbnail.jpg Is a recovery afoot?  China’s currency in the news: Economists estimate that an appreciation of China’s currency would, in fact, lower America’s trade deficit.  Finance ministers gathered in Washington refuse to “name names” when it comes to currency manipulation.  A group of multinational companies that operate in China says focusing on currency is a “mistake.”  (ManufactureThis likes to point out the irony every time American corporations defend the practices of China’s communist government.)  Commerce Secretary Gary Locke says the currency issue is “complex.”  A former advisor to China’s central bank says the yuan needs to appreciate “gradually.”  Weekend leftovers: China is rapidly building up its naval power.   (Courtesy of its trade surplus with the U.S., we might add.) Hugo Boss will keep an Ohio factory open after all.  China is broadcasting propaganda all over America.
