Clean, green, American machines

Hybrid cars arguably received recognition in the automotive world from the Toyota Prius. But with Toyota digging itself into all kinds of trouble, what options remain for car consumers that want to go green AND buy American?
Here are three eco-friendly, American-made cars to consider for your next vehicle purchase:
Ford Escape Hybrid: Claims to be "the most fuel-efficient SUV on the planet" and provides enough cargo space to haul around the kids, camping equipment, etc. without the enviro-guilt of driving a larger vehicle.
Ford Focus: Though not a hybrid, this little car gets great gas mileage and comes with a reasonable price tag.
Chevy Volt: Perhaps the most anticipated green vehicle yet, the 2011 Chevy Volt is "an electric vehicle that uses gas to generate its own electricity." Innovative? You bet.
Happy car shopping!
