Please welcome the newest addition to ManufactureThis, Fashion Friday! Fashion Friday will wrap-up the work week with a little bit of insight on American-made garments.  Many of our clothes are made abroad, oftentimes subjecting foreign workers to miserable sweatshop conditions and unfair pay, while taking jobs away from Americans at the same time.  We'll be highlighting a new clothing, accessory, or shoe company each week to help those who want to "wear American" know where to shop and what to buy! ffnanettelepore Nanette Lepore, New York, NY: Nanette Lepore is an Ohio native clothing and accessory designer who manufactures all of her garments and shoes in the United States.  With famous clients such as Eva Longoria Parker, Taylor Swift, and America Ferrera, Nanette's products are highly coveted, but also ethically manufactured. In a piece last year in The Huffington Post, Lepore writes about the importance of making things to her family's history, as well as her own fashion endeavors.  Lepore employs approximately 300 workers in 10 factories in New York City, with 80 percent of her products manufactured within a 10-mile radius of her design studio.  It can be done.  Clothing can be made in America, and successful designers such as Nanette Lepore are paving the way for a stronger, more self-sustaining, American garment industry. Find Nanette Lepore styles at Neiman Marcus, Nanette Lepore Online and Saks Fifth Avenue. Read Lepore's Huffington Post piece here.
