The Early Shift

early-shift_thumbnail.jpg Even though health care gets all the D.C. attention today, we’ll be talking jobs, jobs, jobs. Jobless claims were unexpectedly up last week.  Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Ben Bernanke didn’t offer up much hope for progress on job when he testified before Congress yesterday.  The trauma of plant closings has profound health effects on laid-off workers and their families.  Are “work share” programs in tough times the wave of the future?  How textile factories in Italy are able to survive.  The U.S. decides on preliminary countervailing duties on certain Chinese steel pipe.  Many Americans see a Chinese century, with America playing a smaller role…and they are worried about it.
