AAM Takes a Buy America Message to Capitol Hill

Posted by scapozzola on 01/26/2010

buyamericaworkslogo Today, the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) is launching an activist blitz on Capitol Hill, with field staff visiting a number of Capitol Hill offices to urge Congress to maintain and enhance Buy America requirements in jobs legislation. AAM has issued a 17-page report on Buy America's job creation successes throughout the U.S.  The message is simple: unless we want tax dollars to support manufacturing jobs in China, Congress needs to strongly enforce domestic content rules that have been in effect for more than 70 years.  Unemployment is at 10 percent and Congress can ill-afford to allow tax dollars to leak overseas.  Workers’ tax dollars shouldn’t be used to close their own factories by shipping manufacturing jobs overseas.  We need to invest tax dollars in the American economy. As AAM Director Scott Paul explained in an interview with Congress Daily [subscription only]:
"(the AAM report) busts the myths that have been perpetuated by a number of embassies and multinational companies...This is something actually that Tea Party supporters and union members agree on."
