You may have seen our praise for Chrysler Jeep's genius new TV spot advertising the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee in all its American-made splendor.
And today, Vice President Biden will visit Chrysler Group LLC's Toledo facility and will witness some of the first 2011 Jeep Wranglers coming off the assembly line, according to David Shepardson of the Detroit News Washington Bureau.
Shepardson reports:
"The Obama administration in recent weeks has touted the importance of the auto industry and the decision to save at least 1.1 million jobs by agreeing to add $60 billion to the auto industry bailout. The Treasury Department holds a 10 percent stake in Chrysler as part of its $12 billion bailout."Biden, the son of an auto dealer, will "spotlight the importance of the supplier industry, which employs nearly twice as many people as the automakers." The vice president's trip serves to further highlight the fact that one manufacturing job can create many more jobs in other sectors, otherwise known as the "ripple effect." ManufactureThis has reported previously on the ripple effect and how reviving the American manufacturing sector wil help to bolster the economy in its entirety. The auto industry is no exception.
