Hi-tech jobs may help revive a hard-hit state

California-based electric car and battery company, Coda, has announced that Ohio will be the site of its new automotive-grade lithium-ion plant. A manufacturing project like this could help to heal the scars from the brutal beating that the state's manufacturing sector has received due to harsh economic conditions.
However, the potential construction of the plant comes with some pretty steep stipulations:
"Construction of the facility is contingent upon finalizing an incentive package with the state of Ohio and the approval of an application for a Department of Energy Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Loan to be submitted soon."And the competition is stiff. In the efforts of many corporations to surge ahead in the clean tech market, many are competing for the federal funds to do so. Coda quoted Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) in saying that, "Ohio is quickly becoming a national leader in clean energy component manufacturing for the auto industry." Read more here.
