Climate Change and Trade

Ways and Means Trade Subcommittee held a hearing on the trade aspects of the climate change legislation. The International President of the United Steelworkers, Leo Gerard, offered his testimony and answered many questions from the members of the subcommittee. Leo Gerard included a study by the Alliance for American Manufacturing on the Assessment of Environmental Regulation of the Steel Industry in China with his testimony to the members of Congress. The study shows how woefully inadequate China's environmental regime is. China is the biggest producer of steel in the world, no attempt to do something about the global climate issue can ignore dealing with China.
