The Alliance for American Manufacturing praises Senator Sherrod Brown's Security in Energy and Manufacturing Act of 2010 (SEAM Act) which is aimed at creating and expanding green manufacturing. According to a United Steelworkers (USW) press release:
"The SEAM Act builds upon the leadership provided by President Obama in establishing the energy manufacturing tax credit (Section 48c of the IRS) in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to encourage a green domestic manufacturing supply chain for alternative energy projects as the nation transitions to energy independence. Section 48c provides for a 30% tax credit for investments in new, expanded or re-equipped green energy manufacturing facilities."Creating a green, clean tech manufacturing base will not only secure America's place in the global economy for years to come, but will also help ensure the creation of sustainable green manufacturing jobs to help combat unemployment and get the nation back on its feet. Read more here and see AAM's letters of encouragement to the Senate and the House for passage of the SEAM Act.
