The Hitchcock Chair Company’s legacy of producing exquisitely handcrafted and hand-stenciled furniture stretches back to its 1818 founding. When the company closed in 2006, customers continued to seek out Hitchcock pieces, prizing them for their quality and beauty. Rick Swanson’s Still River Antiques was one of the few vendors who still offered Hitchcock furniture, but Swanson wasn’t satisfied with restoring these Hitchcock’s work and set out to revive the company in 2010 along with his business partner, Gary Hath, keeping the art, plans, and name of The Hitchcock Company.
