  • President Obama visits Baltimore factory to promote infrastructure investment as a means of revitalizing the middle class

    While our #AAMeter numbers have yet to 'WOW' us, it seems, at the very least, that President Obama has not forgotten the promises he made during his campaign.

    Perhaps spurred by the last few months' worth of abysmal manufacturing jobs numbers, the president has embarked on a "Jobs and Opportunities" tour. Today, he traveled to Ellicott Dredges in Baltimore. A 125-year-old company, Ellicott produces equipment necessary for infrastructure repair and production. 

    According to CBS News' Mark Knoller (via Twitter), during his speech at Ellicott, the president restated his commitment to helping the middle class, and would like to see wages go up. Knoller quotes President Obama as saying "We have to up our game on infrastructure."

    The timing of the event coincides with the release of the Administration's "Report to the President," which tracks the results of an initiative launched by in March of 2012.

    Additionally, the White House also launched a new tool, the Infrastructure Permitting Dashboard, which it says "provides an unprecedented level of transparency into the Federal permitting and review process."

Last week the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) told you about a new study prepared by Brigadier General John Adams (U.S. Army, Retired). The report finds urgent action is needed to reduce the U.S. military’s dangerous dependence on foreign suppliers for the raw materials, parts, and finished products needed to defend America.
