When you shop, keep it American made

The season of gift-giving is upon us. The Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) will offer numerous ideas over the coming weeks to make your holiday season made in America.

But while you wait, AAM President Scott Paul has some tips in ReMaking America to help you with your American-made shopping plans.

  • Next time you shop, make a point to purchase an item that is Made in America. You’ll be frustrated if you try to find clothes in Wal-Mart or tools at Home Depot, but there are other choices, so select your stores wisely. It would be difficult to make all of your purchases American made, but once you start buying American, you won’t want to stop.
  • If you are ever in a position to provide advice on constructing a home, an office, a school, or any structure at all, urge the contractor to purchase American-made materials.
  • If you are buying a gift for someone, make it an American-made gift. You’ll find lots of choices and a gift that is made in America is likely to bring a smile of surprise or delight to the recipient’s face.

So there you have it! Be sure to tune in today at 3:30 p.m. EST to hear #MadeinUSA experts offer advice on buying American this holiday season. And look out for our 50 States American made gift guide this week.
