Senators, Members of Congress Urge Action on Japan Trade Barriers

In a letter to President Barack Obama, eight senators and 35 House members voiced concerns about Japan’s trade barriers, particularly currency manipulation. 

Japan's recent currency undervaluation, coupled with other measures, is effectively blocking U.S. automakers from selling their cars and trucks in Japan.

The letter from Senators and Members of Congress urges action on these issues ahead of any effort to include Japan in a potential Trans-Pacific Partnership (TTP).

This morning, Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) President Scott Paul published a statement calling on the Administration and Congress to address Japan's currency manipulation and "guarantee reciprocity for American workers and businesses.”
