Scott Paul: Keep skilled jobs for skilled workers in Washington

Last night, Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) President Scott Paul appeared on MSNBC's The Ed Show to talk about the labor dispute between aircraft maker Boeing and the workers at its Everett, Washington plant, which may send production of its next big jet elsewhere. But haggling over labor costs, Paul cautioned, is missing the larger issue:

'Ultimately, a race to the bottom isn’t going to do Boeing any favors. The companies that buy their planes buy them because they fly very well, not because they’re necessarily cheap. And that’s what you want: You don’t want a necessarily cheap worker, you want workers who are highly skilled, who have years of experience, and who can put a great plane together as they have over the last couple of decades for Boeing right there in the state of Washington.'
