Rep. Tonko brings filmmakers to Washington to talk American manufacturing

Make it in America. That’s the House Democrats' plan to create the ‘best conditions’ for American manufacturers to create jobs right here in the U.S.

In that spirit, Rep. Paul Tonko (NY-20) gathered colleagues, manufacturers, and representatives from the labor community for a conversation on American manufacturing and a screening of American Made Movie. Rep. Tonko, a strong supporter of domestic manufacturing, supports getting tough on China’s currency manipulation. Ending global currency manipulation could add 11,200 to his district in New York alone.

Tonko's House colleagues, Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (MD-5) and Rep. Michael Michaud (ME-2), also stressed the importance of the ‘Make it in America’ agenda. Whip Hoyer urged those gathered to take action: Be a salesperson for 'Make it in America.'

And that’s the message that American Made Movie filmmakers want consumers to takeaway from the documentary. Actions speak louder than words. We, as consumers, have the power to create jobs and support American manufacturing if we choose to buy American whenever possible.
