Rep. Hare Wants Obama to Move on Currency
Posted by jeckert on 10/06/2010
On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Phil Hare spoke to United Steelworkers Local 685 about his decision to support the recently passed Currency Reform for Fair Trade Act. According to The Register-Mail, Rep. Hare said, "The time for playing nice with China is over."
Additionally, Hare was one of 180 members of Congress to sign a letter to President Obama last week in support of the United Steelworkers petition of China's unfair clean energy policies. To back up his reasons for signing, he cited data from an Economic Policy Institute (EPI) and AAM study, stating, "I hope he [Obama] moves on it right away...the increasing trade deficit with China has cost us 2.3 million jobs across the U.S.”
