Forbes recently started a new feature on it’s website: Reinventing America. The new section “will focus on the challenges facing towns, cities Longaberger HQand traditional industries across the nation– and highlight the growing number of surprising success stories we’re seeing, too.”

A story about pottery and basket maker Longaberger caught the ManufactureThis "eye."

Longaberger CEO Tami Longaberger recently announced that her company would re-shore its pottery jobs. (Work on basket production for Longaberger currently takes place in the United States.) The pottery vendor Longerberger contracts with moved its production to China about a decade ago. The CEO thinks it’s time to bring production back.

She said:

I’ve thought long and hard about who we are and what makes us special, I keep coming back to something fundamental. Our company was founded in America’s Heartland. We stand for American values. We want to create more American jobs. We want to help rebuild our country."

Moving production stateside will take several years as the company has to prepare its manufacturing space with new kilns. The company estimates that the move will create 500 jobs in Dresden, OH.
