President Obama asks how the U.S. can bring more business home
This Wednesday, President Obama will highlight the advantages of investing in the United States. The White House will hold an Insourcing American Jobs forum to "hear from business leaders who are bringing jobs back home and see how we can help other businesses follow their lead."
Several major U.S. manufacturers wil participate in the forum, including Master Lock, Lincolnton Furniture, GalaxE Solutions, and DuPont.
The emphasis on insourcing of jobs, and investing in domestic U.S. factories, makes sense. Manufacturing creates jobs, it sustains a middle class.
The Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) has repeatedly called for the adoption of a national manufacturing strategy that incorporates elements of a coherent trade policy, a revised tax code, and infrastructure investment in order to rebuild America's industrial preeminence.
Hopefully the Presiednt's forum will be a step in the right direction.
