If we stop buying Chinese-made U.S. flags, will flag companies stop outsourcing the work?
The debate about whether American flags should be made in other countries probably began around the time that the first U.S. flag production job was outsourced. Nevertheless, it hasn't stopped since.
Elected officials on national and state levels have fought for legislation requiring American-made flags to be flown at various types of government buildings.
Add Michigan to the growing list.
According to Livingston Daily:
A proposed law...would require U.S. flags at schools and local governments to be made in America.
Of course, these laws all only deal with state, county, and/or federal buildings. If you want to make sure the flag you fly outside of your home or workplace is American-made here's a good place to start.

US flags made in China
If a US flag has no markings for the country of origin for manufacturing and fiber content then it is about 99% likely it is an import. Federal Textile laws require all domestic products be marked as such.
Its pretty simple. Imported flags come into the Country unmarked because 99% of US consumers would never purchase an imported US flag.
As with most problems in this Country we create laws then do not enforce them. Inspect the goods in the containers in the ports. If they are not properly marked send them back.
The US flag Industry remains dedicated to quality and American jobs. Enforce the law and protect both the American consumer and American jobs.
