Governors applaud Made in the USA, but do their laws support American manufacturing?

Posted by TGarland on 08/23/2013

Yesterday, Wal-Mart hosted a U.S. manufacturing summit with representatives from 500 suppliers, 32 states and retail industry leaders. Eight governors were quick to applaud Wal-Mart for their U.S. manufacturing efforts. But do their states' laws promote U.S. manufacturing through “buy America” provisions for state public works projects?

Gov. Tomblin, West Virginia signed a buy America law for steel, aluminum and glass.

Gov. LePage, Maine vetoed a buy America law this year.

None of the following governors have “buy America” laws on the books:

Gov. Mike Beebe, Arkansas

Gov. Phil Bryant, Mississippi

Gov. Nikki Haley, South Carolina

Gov. Susana Martinez, New Mexico

Gov. Butch Otter, Idaho

Remember what your parents taught you -- actions speak louder than words.

That is the hypocrisy of the right wing yeah it sounds good but we are not going to do anything about it that might offend our rich buddies.
