Banana Republic is Promoting Made in America Labels in a Special Collection

By Tierra Tucker
Retailer Banana Republic imports most of its clothing, but it is presently collaborating with three American-made companies.

Special curated collections offer American-made jewelry and handbags.

I have some exciting news about one of America’s favorite retailers.

Banana Republic, a brand well-known for outsourcing its collection of trendy officewear, is now offering customers the chance to purchase items from three American-made collections. Part of Banana Republic's "The Company We Keep" collection, the brands featured invoke a classy and sophisticated style, giving shoppers an opportunity to support American-made companies while also looking their best.

Jeweler Elizabeth Cole is first up. Designed by Stephanie Owen, the handcrafted collection features gorgeous Swarovski crystals with a modern twist on vintage inspiration. Owen has collaborated with top designers like Zac Posen, and counts celebs like Jessica Alba, Katy Perry and Alicia Keys among her fans. The items are a bit pricey; one of my favs, the Tropical Collar Necklace, sells for $580.

More affordable are the handbags offered by august. For my ladies interested in sleek and stylish handbags, august delivers artisanal leather goods inspired by European old-world luxury, and all the company's products are Made in Los Angeles. Prices start at $78 and go up to $480, for the San Remo handbag.

Finally, there is Fleabags, which is Made in America and designed in Brooklyn. The limited-edition collection offered by Banana Republic is "inspired by vintage toolbags and elevated by Italian leather and refined details."

Be sure to check out the American-made offerings being sold by Banana Republic, and check out more of the goods offered by Elizabeth Cole, august and Fleabags online.
