Denver lawmakers weigh Buy America legislation
Posted by scapozzola on 04/13/2012
A measure given preliminary approval in the Denver Senate yesterday would give state bidders a 1 percent preference if they use American-made equipment.
The legislation aims to boost jobs through contracting preferences. Earlier this week, the Senate approved a measure to set up bidding preferences for contractors that agree to use Coloradans to do the work.
Senate President Brandon Shaffer has called the Buy American bill "another one of those common-sense bills." The measure faces one more formal vote in the Senate before it heads to the House.
