A China contradiction

First, the good news... At a speech in Ohio today, GOP VP candidate Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) talked tough on China: "They steal our intellectual property rights. They block access to their markets. They manipulate their currency."

Second, the more troubling news...  Ryan's hawkish stance on China contradicts his prior Congressional record.  In 2010, Ryan voted against legislation to crack down on China's currency manipulation.

NBC News' Mark Murray reported on this "contradiction."  In his speech, Ryan said that China has treated President Obama like a "doormat."

However, Murray quotes Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) Executive Director Scott Paul on Ryan's sudden about-face and lecturing of the president.  Paul described it as the "height of hypocrisy."

So, here's to hoping that, if Romney/Ryan were elected, they would follow through on these recent campaign promises to get tough on China.
