2013: As seen and experienced by AAM coordinators

Posted by LDonia on 01/07/2014

Each year, the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) sends its team of coordinators to events around the country. They attend conferences, panels, workshops and an array of other engagements, all in the name of promoting American manufacturing. They're very hard working, but they also make room in their packed schedules for some sightseeing.

When we asked them to share some photos of their 2013 travels, we were treated to some images of work, and some images of play. Nonetheless, they're all part of the "AAM Story" -- here is the view from the field, as seen by our coordinators:

Lou Delatore, our West Virginia-based coordinator got to enjoy some time outside back in June when AAM hosted batting practice at San Jose Municipal Stadium, home to the San Jose Giants. The event was part of the Netroots conference, which AAM attends yearly. In August, while Lou helped organize an AAM Town Hall in Mobile, AL at USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park.

Mark Musho, AAM's Philadelphia-based coordinator sends along this photo of three of AAM's finest: himself, the aforementioned Lou Delatore and William Jones, our Tennessee-based coordinator. The three made the jaunt from San Jose (following Netroots) to Fresno for a town hall. They snapped some photos along the way.

Meghan McKeefry, AAM's Wisconsin-based coordinator sends a group shots from an event in the northern mid-west. She, along with other AAM'ers Mike Mitchell, Rachel Bennett Steury and Blue Wilson taught workshops in Onaway, MI at Black Lake, the UAW Training Center, to United Way Community Service activists.

Mike Mitchell, one of AAM's Indiana-based coordinators sent a group shot of AAM'ers, and friends, during the United Steelworkers District 7 SOAR summer school back in July.

Rachel Bennett Steury, AAM's other Indiana-based coordinator attended a screening of the documentary film Exit Zero in April at the Chicago Field Museum. Following the screening she took part in a panel that discussed policy solutions to support manufacturing. She submitted this photo of herself presenting the filmmakers with some AAM SWAG.

Ken Poweski, our Ohio-based coordinator shared this photo from the July release of AAM's book, ReMaking America, in Cleveland, at the City Club. Pictured is AAM President Scott Paul alongside other contributing authors. (Learn more about the book!)

To learn more about these and other events, check out this wrap-up. And stay tuned here throughout 2014 as we may be coming to a town or city near you!
